Realism (Style and Civilization), by Linda Nochlin

Setting Realism in its social and historical context, the author discusses the crucial paradox posed by Realist works of art - notably in the revolutionary paintings of Courbet, the works of Manet, Degas and Monet, of the Pre-Raphaelites and other English, American, German and Italian Realists.

Superb introduction to a predominant 19th century art trend
By Robert Moore
Realism was a major movement of mid- to late-19th century art, literature, and architecture, and has left a lasting impact on the culture of the 20th and 21st centuries. Before realism, most painting dealt with either historical or allegorical subjects, but afterwards, almost all art has primarily been concerned with contemporary subjects, and allegory is close to unheard of. As Nochlin shows, Realism is not merely a mimetic recreation of what one sees or photo-realism. The Dutch masters and especially Vermeer had produced paintings of great verisimilitude to real life, but they have little in common with 19th century Realism because of the overall social context.
Realism has the unusual distinction of both being a school and not being one. Although many painters could be said to be realists, there is not an easily identifiable school of realist painters like with the Impressionists, who were, in fact, some of the leading exponents of realist principles. There were self-consciously realist writers, like Zola, but as a group they did not actually attach themselves to the label as long as one might suppose.
Nochlin does a great job of explaining precisely what was unique about realism by examining the way that several painters--in particular Courbet, Manet, Monet, Degas, Renoir, and a few other key figures--expressed realist values in their paintings. Her strategy is to do this by discussing realism in the context of several themes. First, she surveys the ways in which realist painters dealt with death. This primarily consisted in the demystification of death, stripping it of the metaphysical, mythological, moralistic, and religious trappings with which it had traditionally been treated. Second, she deals with the question of contemporaneity, which in many ways has been the most influential aspect of realism. As mentioned above, after realism historical painting became increasingly suspect. Finally, she discusses what she terms "The Heroism of Everyday Life." This is the celebration and elevation of everyday activities and people as acceptable and laudable subjects of paintings. The book ends with a Epilogue that takes up the question of realism in architecture, and what this could mean in the context of the 19th century.
Some understanding of realism is essential for understanding both 19th century art, and the development of post-impressionist and abstract art (since these had very different understandings of what was "real"). Like everything that Linda Nochlin writes, this is of the utmost interest not merely to students of art, but to anyone interested in the aesthetic values that went into the making of modernism. I would very much like to see a new edition of this book come out, hopefully with updated illustrations and graphics. It is hard to imagine a stronger introductory treatment of 19th century Realism than this excellent volume.

A classic
By Helmut Walser Smith
This is a brilliant book: beautifully written, brimming with erudition, and full of insight. It is mainly about French art in the era of Courbet and the early impressionists. But it draws on a wider range of literature, art in other places, philosophy, and social, economic and political history. A great read.

A Clear Guide to the Complexities of Realism
By A Customer
In this 283 page book Linda Nochlin examines the artistc genre of realism under a microscope. Every point that she raises is cleary supported in great detail. The chapter "The Heroism of Modern Life" outlines a very intersting thesis regarding the changes in subjects chosen by artists in the 19th century. It is fascinateing becuase Nochlin uses support from both the Art world, and the litterary world of realism. This is a must own book for your Art reference library.

Usurers Beware!
By Amazon User
Dr. E. Michael Jones does it again! Every student from theology to economics, history to philosophy, must read this book. Elegantly written with the novice in mind, Jones goes to great lengths to eliminate the shroud of vagueness that blankets modern day economic terminology by defining essential terms such as usury, labour, and capitalism. Relying on a firm belief in Catholic Social Teaching, the Western Tradition of the Catholic Church, and an excellent historical prospective, Jones takes the reader through a history of the conflict between labour and the attempt, by usurious means, to appropriate all surplus wealth. Nothing has ever been written like Barren Metal in the history of Western Civilization. If Adam Smith and his acolytes possessed this book, they would have been able to see all ten fingers! If you have been asking questions such as, "Is interest a just act?" or "How exactly is usury defined?", then read this book! Most histories of economics and related topics begin with Adam Smith's incomplete version of how a nation's wealth is created and distributed. Jones goes further and dives into the sources of the Italian Renaissance, allowing for a clear and concise explanation of how history has led man to his modern day sterile capitalistic status. Thanks to Jones, even the average reader can now grasp concepts once foreign to laborer (the debtor) and all too familiar with those with the means to do as little work as possible while accumulating as much wealth as possible (the creditor). Simply put: this book will help anyone understand the deleterious actions of the few that brought today's markets falling to their knees and begging for the return of morality. This book is a must have, especially after having read Jones' Opus: The Jewish Revolutionary Spirit. In closing, sources are well researched and the index is flawless.

Capitalism As State Sponsored Usury
By MDLION
A few days ago, about two months after I purchased this book in June 2015, I was made permanent at the large company I had been temping at for eight months, from December 2014. In reading and signing various paperwork while making the transition from temp to perm, I read that I am an "at will" employee. "What happens if the company's will for me to work for them changes?" I thought. Of course I could be out of a job. The concept of "at will" employment comes up in this remarkable book, really quite an achievement for Dr. Jones. It comes up in reference to the horrible treatment the Irish received at the hands of English landlords at the time of the 19th century Irish potato famine:

"The people who worked the land and improved it were considered tenants 'at will,' which meant the landlord could drive them off the land whenever he chose. ... The Catholic Irish peasant lived, as a result, in a constant state of insecurity knowing that he could be expelled from the land he tilled at the whim of a landlord imbued with the most ruthless capitalistic principles. ... 'the tenants were handed over to exploitation. Profit was the only motive.'" (PP. 1003, 1002)

Job security is one of the reasons I've always been Pro-Union. Better wages, benefits, and treatment of the workers are others. When I worked for UPS, the Teamsters protected the workers from "production harassment". Production harassment has been more prevalent at non-union jobs I've held. One such job was a fulfillment center job I held before Christmas (Oops, I mean, "Holiday") 2007. On the first day of this job, a supervisor told a group of us new hires, "This is a free trade zone." "Is that why the pay's so low?" I thought. I was paid $9/hr at the job. A co-worker told me that three years earlier the company had been starting the temps at $12/hr. The driving down of wages and free trade come up on page 1265 of "Barren Metal":

"As the situation in America prior to the founding of the Federal Reserve System had shown, manufacturing when protected from predatory free trade could often fund capital expansion out of profits. Beyond that, equity investment which shared risk was morally licit as well, even though all of these options got lumped together under the Marxist understanding of 'capital.' Similarly, the owners of factories were, more often than not, guilty of driving wages down to subsistence level, but, as Henry Ford had shown, again in America, this need not be the case, and ultimately it was not in the interests of the manufacturing class, as the Ford Motor Company showed in 1947 when it finally agreed to bargain with the United Auto Workers Union."

In 1960, my Dad went out to the Ford plant in Louisville and was immediately hired. A few days ago in 2015, it was announced that the Ford plant in Louisville would be hiring 5000 new workers at $15.78/hr. The company now decides who will be eligible for interviews by a lottery system.
My Dad eventually retired from Navistar (formerly International Harvester). Sometimes there would be strikes. I was on strike for 16 days in 1997 while working at UPS. Along with a majority, I voted down the contract initially offered to us because it was greatly lacking in full time job opportunities. As a single man with no children, I didn't feel so bad about my situation at UPS. But I thought it bordered on being immoral that so many of my married co-workers had to run around like chickens with their heads cut off to two or three part time jobs, spending time away from their families. Dr. Jones points out on pages 1328 and 1329 that Pope John Paul II's encyclical "Laborem Exercens" says workers have a right to strike:

"[W]orkers should be assured the right to strike, without being subjected to personal penal sanctions for taking part in a strike."

Rather than write a systematic overall review of "Barren Metal", I have decided just to point out a few areas of personal interest. I haven't read the entire 1400 plus pages yet, but from the chapter titles and excellent index have been reading sections. I haven't even touched on "Usury", though I've been harangued by credit card companies in the past during very lean years. I particularly enjoyed Chapter 6, "St. Bernardine of Siena".

Let me recommend to any interested readers, Dr. Jones' excellent monthly, "Culture Wars", of which I've been a subscriber for years.

Usury is Evil.
By Dennis Gannon
A very good enjoyable read. It was nice to find someone with the scruples to point out the evils of usury. Economics is not a morally neutral science. The so called 'free market" is not free, those who make the laws have a party or group of lobbyist they favor, etc. Like his other books, Michael has the guts to point out the evils of the Talmud and the so called Jews who follow it are evil. The book is well documented. Those who see the evils of today's Central banking should find answers to the problem by reading Ellen Brown and her books about public banking.

Excellent Hands-On Suppliment
By Chad Davies
Adam's "Lecture Tutorials" collection is an excellent suppliment to any astronomy textbook. While most text books include a couple of introductory chapters on naked-eye astronomy the material included is often surface deep at best and downright confusing at worst. Much of this is because the topics covered (i.e.-the celestial sphere, daily and yearly motions of the stars, sun and moon, etc) are highly abstract and require activities that force the student to move away from memorization towards an understand of the apparent motions and what causes them.

The Lecture Tutorials are a test ed set of just such activities based on a wealth of astronomy education research. They can be used in both large scale classes and smaller groups to get students to work through the difficult misconceptions and misunderstands that oftentimes beset the subjects being studied.

The activities range throughout the standard astronomy curriculum but, in my opinion, the best activites are those that focus on the apparent motions of the Sun, Moon and stars.

I recommend this to any student trying to better understand the subject and for any educator who wants help moving their students from "fun facts" to deeper understanding.

I believe I must have a misprint as after page ...
By Lau
I believe I must have a misprint as after page 104 it skips to 137.... then after page 168 it jumps back to 137 which finish back at 168. It was not even rip out, it was simply not bounded to the book. Several of the pages are needed for my class but because I am unable to turn it in, I may be deduct some points. Everyone please look through if all pages are accounted for or send it back asap. I did not and now I am suffering for it.

By Lan Whitley
I ordered this book for my Astronomy class two months ago. I have been using it for my in class Lecture-Tutorials almost every class. Everything has been fine until yesterday when we were doing the assignments from page 113. I opened the book when I realized that it was missing from page 105 to 136. Missing 31 pages!!! I couldn't finish my in class assignment because of this missing pages! This is so unfair. I paid full price for this book and got an uncompleted book. And now I can't return because it has been two months. I didn't see it until I turned to these pages. Really don't want to buy it again and find pages missing since this is an important book for my class

Diane, doing what she does best, writing wonderful stories. Lovely Anthology.
By Joanna Darrell
Do you remember those moments from your childhood when the excitement of an event was all you could think about ? Even better, when the event finally came, and lived upto your expectations and stayed with you forever ? It was like this for me with this book. I just adored it. I first got to hear Diane was working on this last year through a Facebook group that I belong to (you can click on it here) So what else could I do but advance order it and eagerly await for it to appear in my download queue ?

After her success with "How still my love", this book see's Diane return to writing not just one, but a collection of 5 shorter stories, released as one volume. One of these, Imperial hotel, has been released previously, but to be honest, I didn't mind this as it's by some way my favourite short story. As an added bonus, you also get an excerpt of "How still my love" to enjoy at the end. Really nice addition. Even if you're not a fan, this latest book is well worth checking out. Diane has a really versatile writing style, which is showcased in beautiful scenes featuring a wonderful wicked sense of humour. She writes the kind of books I would love to be able to write myself.

Let me tell you a little about her latest release, while trying not give too much away.....

Italian Summer tells the story of Jessica, a young woman who escapes to Italy to recover from a break-up with Keira. Staying at the wonderfully named "Appartamenti della Cinque Lune" she explores the local tourist sights, before meeting Antonella, a local tour guide who lives in the apartment next door. This is a story about how "the one" can utterly change your life, making you alive to the possibilities of taking chances and living in the moment. It's beautifully framed by Diane's signature ability to create a scene and rich, intriguing characters, leaving you the chance to create your own sequel and backstories. (For me one of the best things about a short story) As anyone who knows me would tell you, its my favourite of the set, right in my comfort zone and preferred genre, I would definitely fly to meet Antonella - yummy !!!

Sweet girl. This story, written for some friends of the author, (who share a fondness for all things confectionary) see's Mandy, a local confectioner, fall for Skylar, a woman, who I'm not afraid to admit, wears mascara the way I want to !!! There's more to Skylar than meets the eye though and soon Mandy wonders if "sugar and spice, really is all that's nice", or whether, in the books penultimate scene whether Skylars betrayal was just "sugar loving". This was an intriguing story for me, whose twist, when it was revealed took the story in a direction I wasn't expecting. I like that. It was a nice touch, which again, drew me to the characters and the possibility of their follow on story, but in a different way to the first. I also found myself wondering whether it was a insight into the authors friends, particularly when I read "If you want to woo me, buy me a book for valentines day" Something only an author would say, particularly when there's the possibility of chocolate !!!

It's only love. As you would expect from the story which the book is named after, this is a little longer than the pre-ceeding ones. It's also a departure from what you might expect from, but her trademark writing skills are all on display here. We join Cameron, our lead, questioning her sexuality after a bad encounter with Evan, who even in the brief time we know him comes across as a complete sleaze. In an attempt to forget him and acting on a conversation she heard on the train, Cameron goes to a local fetish club and horror of horrors, meets two of her friends !!! Breezing past the potentially awkward encounter, Grayson leads her into an antechamber with Corbin ( a girl she has been friends with for a long time, even lusting after) Although initially a threesome, the encounter quickly becomes about Cameron and Corbin as Diane treats us to some really expressive, descriptive and powerfully erotic writing. It's clear from her words that she has really enjoyed this story and understood the premise of this type of relationship, born out of friendship, that turns into exclusivity. Like the others before, it gives you enough detail to be complete on its own, while inviting you to experiment with the characters after you finish, but in a very different genre. Personally, I really enjoyed this one and can see why Diane has named the book after it. I loved the names of two of the protagonists and the concept of the story - Cameron and Corbin. If you're from the UK, this alone makes the whole book worth buying and reading !!! It's just typically Diane, different, edgy, thoroughly enjoyable and one I'm sure her fans will love and why not ?

Blue lamp. Continuing on with the edgy theme, this paranormal story sees Miranda and Chelsea move to Mirandas fathers house at his request after two couples unexpectedly move out at short notice for no apparent reason. For me, this was the most different of all the four stories and one that I hadn't expected to enjoy as much I did. I'm more of a girly romance fan than a paranormal one, but its a well written story with a lot to enjoy in it as well as its very own "Eeeeeek" moment at the end !!! . Told separately Miranda's and Chelsea's viewpoints, I'm told that it really captures the essence of how possession and channelling feel from a spiritually open and sensitive persons viewpoint (Chelsea) counterplaying it with the more questioning and sceptical one from Miranda. It's positively good fun and a really strong addition to the set. I hope she writes more in this style.

Imperial hotel is a beautiful love story which tells of the relationship between Joan and Lily in a time when the social attitudes and expectations of women were very different. The book divides neatly into three parts, their introduction, courtship and latter day reflection, with the story highlighting each woman’s thoughts about the relationship during each part. Joan’s introduction to Lily at the hotel is typical of many around the world at a time of arranged marriages. Her mother is introducing her to the socialite scene and looking for lily to “mentor” her in order to find an appropriate suitor. From this introduction, Joan’s feelings for Lily develop as they spend more time together making arrangements for both Lilys wedding, Joan’s courtship and volunteer work at a nearby homeless shelter. Joan and Lilys characters each have a different appeals and vulnerabilities which depending on your own perspective, you’ll find hard not to sympathise with at least one, or both off. I personally aligned with Lily, not just because of her rebellious nature that is full of hope, but also what she stands to lose in terms of how her life develops. For me, that made her the villain of the story, who also comes complete with her own “pretty woman” moment, which I would defy you not to smile at ! Joan’s character (for me the heroine) is more confident of her feelings after their initial introduction, but which aren’t enough for Lily to buck the social convention and path laid out for her. Reeling from this rejection, Joan throws herself back at rebuilding her life and her university studies, with Lily seeking her out again, shortly after the birth of her child.

Five very different stories, from a very talented writer. One of the really nice things about an anthology for both the writer and the reader, the author gets to take a chance and try something different, without potentially ruining a whole book for her readers and the reader gets to experience a different style with someone that they know and trust. Overall for me - completely worth a 5 star review. You're sure to find something to suit your preference here and if you do, why not pop her a note to let her know which one you would like a sequel to ? You never know - you could end up with your own version of "sweet girl" !!!

A TExES Study Guide Unlike Any Other

If you'd like to get the TExES score you deserve, to quit worrying about whether your score on the TExES is "good enough," and to beat the test taking game, then this might be the most important message you read this year.

Our comprehensive study guide for the TExES is written by our TExES experts, who painstakingly researched the topics and the concepts that you need to know to do your best on the TExES. Our original research into the Texas Examinations of Educator Standards (TExES), offered by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) and Educational Testing Service (ETS), reveals the specific content areas and the essential skills that are critical for you to know on the TExES. We've taken the information and developed a study guide that is guaranteed to help you be successful on the TExES.

Regardless of which TExES test you have to take- you have come to the right place. Here you will find everything you need to know in order to be successful and get your certification.

Now, we know you may be skeptical, so let us give you three good reasons we can back up what we claim:

The Three Reasons To Believe What We Say

The First Reason:

Our company's name is Mometrix Test Preparation, and we have a team of standardized test researchers who have worked on developing our study guide for the TExES. The standards for who gets to work on the team are very strict- we demand the best for our customers, and only those who met our exacting standards made the cut. The dedicated research staff have years of combined experience in mastering the content and skills necessary to succeed on the toughest exams.

The Second Reason:

Some academic studies have revealed that test takers do not really benefit from the traditional test preparation process. But we knew there had to be a solution- if test takers were not doing well on the TExES despite high intelligence, there had to be a set of secret keys to the test that would open the door of success for these test takers.

We believe we have succeeded in finding the secret keys of the exam. What we found was surprising, and in some cases ridiculously simple once explained to the average test taker.

We put the findings together in a thorough, concise study guide that we believe allows any test taker, at any skill level, to improve his or her results dramatically with a minimum of effort.

The Third Reason:

We created the product in part because we were frustrated by the options available to test takers who really wanted to do well on the TExES.

A common approach is to TEACH the material, instead of TEACHING THE TEST. That's not necessarily good enough for the TExES- you have to know how to apply the knowledge. Most test takers already have a general knowledge of the material that will be covered on the exam.

One reason some test takers do well on the day of the test is that they have made the critical connection between the material they learned and how to use the material to succeed on the TExES.

Our guide addresses the difference between merely knowing the material and knowing how to use the material to perform on test day.

You're going to save time, money, and aggravation. You'll learn to avoid the mistakes and the bad strategies that you've been vulnerable to. --Just for starters, here are some ways our product can help your score on the TExES...

The Exclusive Test Taking Techniques

  • Explains how the TExES time limits are the #1 enemy of most test takers, and what you can do about it- You avoid falling into the many "time traps" built into the test, giving you an immeasurable advantage over those who go into the test unaware
  • Shows you super speed methods to get through the questions you know with ease- Saving you time so you concentrate on the hardest questions without rushing
  • Get quick, customized help for the questions you have- just send us a quick email and we'll get back to you promptly with the answer.
  • Keys to questions that "give away" the wrong (or right) answers- You get credit for some of the questions without really even knowing anything about them
  • Details the EXACT STUDY PLAN for the TExES that we believe gives the most results in the least time- No matter if you're studying for a week or a month, you won't waste the precious study time you have on useless activities
  • Our researchers are more than just academic theoreticians who understand the technical nature of standardized tests, but are also experts on test taking itself- they reveal the exact skills and the information you'll need to perform under pressure during the test.
  • A systematic analysis and the best breakdown into "plain language" of how to deconstruct and master complex problems- You turn the problems that most of the test takers will stumble over to your advantage
  • Learn why, when, and how to guess to your advantage. Many test takers use exactly the wrong strategy, but you can avoid the pitfalls with the help of our standardized test experts
  • The secret keys that "gives away" the right answer a lot of the time- You know the special "flags" and the specific "giveaways" to look for
  • Includes instructions detailing the best way for you to get started with your preparation efforts so you can begin the path of improving your scores immediately
  • The most efficient and accurate method for picking the right answer- You won't be scratching your head trying to read the mind of the test question writer, but will instead know exactly what to look for to pick the best answer
  • Our quick problem solving method for difficult problems- You speed right through these notorious time-wasters
  • Courteous, unlimited customer service is 100% free- if you need the product emailed to a different address, lose the product, or have any other difficulty- the help you need is just a short email away and our representatives are active 7 days a week helping customers
  • The research of our team of test experts is 100% independent and original
  • Our exclusive "calibration strategy" to help you never go too fast OR too slow when answering even the toughest questions
  • The 5-step process we've developed, what we call the "phased" approach, concerning the use of the various study aids and practice tests
  • How the problem of procrastination can kill your chance of success, and the most important thing you can do about it
  • How to know when you've studied as much as you need to for the exam- and the reason why we think some people should spend LESS time studying for the test
  • The Top 20 things you should take care of within 24 hours of taking the test- use the list we provide as a checklist to make sure you've taken care of the "little things" in addition to studying hard
  • How to predict the right answer before you see the answer choices- and how to prevent the wrong answers from "polluting" your mind and tempting you into a trap designed by the test writers --
  • Why answers that "sound" correct are often the very ones that are wrong- and how to tell the difference between the right answer and the many clever-sounding traps set for you by the test writers

  • Do you know what a "hedge phrase" is? Learn why looking for the key "weasel words" in the question can help identify the correct answer
  • Why "new information" in the answer choices almost always means that the answer choice is wrong- and the way to avoid this trick planted by the clever test writers
  • Learn to avoid this time-draining mistake on the test - why the technical terms you don't know can be a major stumbling block and waste precious time, and the way that you can work around them
  • The secret to using the contextual clues in the questions and the answer choices to make important distinctions between the right and the wrong answer choices
  • The two situations where you should NOT check your answers thoroughly
  • How to avoid careless mistakes by using the quick "double check" system. It will more than pay for itself relative to the time it will take you
  • Test writers will often quote directly from the question in an answer- learn whether this is something you should trust or avoid
  • Why "extreme statements" in the answer choices are dead giveaways for wrong answers- find out how to detect the subtle differences between reasonable answers and the answers that are almost always wrong
  • Learn how to group your answer choices into "families" that often narrows down the pool of correct answers- this is a quick way to immediately eliminate one or two of the answer choices and increase your odds of getting the question right

Now, you're probably wondering how and why we can do all the things we claim.

Let us explain.

Before we go any further, let us clarify what TExES Secrets is not. It is not a stale rehash of all of the things you have already learned in the past.

TExES Secrets is our exclusive collection of the tips and the information that we have specially selected to give you the best results on the TExES for the least time spent studying. It's written in everyday language and is easy to use.

We cover the 5 essential skills necessary to do well on the TExES, plus a comprehensive review covering your specific TExES test.

Don't take our word for it. Listen to what our customers say about other Mometrix test preparation products.

I purchased the Secrets file, and I just wanted to let you know that I got a 99% on my test. I just want to thank you again, and hope you have continued success in your ventures. Sincerely, Paul L.

My name is Chris. I used the Secrets study guide for five days. The study guide made the test so easy to understand. Like you said this program is worth 100's of dollars. To me 1,000's!! THANKS, Chris G.

I just had to thank you guys for the test prep! I bought the guide as a last minute prep, I mean maybe 5 hours before the test. Like I said, I had ZERO preparation! I was nervous about the test let alone receiving the score I needed. I read the guide through only once before test time and needless to say, the only way I passed was thanks to your refresher!! Brian

Just dropping you a note to let you know that I am completely satisfied with the product. I had already taken the test once and landed in the 75 percentile of those taking it with me. I took the test a second time and used some of your tips and raised my score to the 97 percentile. Thanks for my much improved score. Denise W.

I heard about your website from a friend. I am enrolled in a review course, and in hindsight, I wish I wouldn't have taken my review course and instead spent a fraction of the money on your program. Thank you! Zac L.

You get at least 10 times your money's worth! --When you consider what's at stake with the exam, we believe the value of our study guide gives you at least ten times your money's worth.

Studying dance on paper is hard
By Henry LeJeune
I have loved dance for as long as I can remember. That led me to wanting to teach it and there’s no better place to start than with children. I taught younger children dance for a long time, but I wanted to become an actual dance teacher for older children who might go on to pursue dance in college and beyond. When I had to take this test, I realized that learning dance on paper is hard. It’s more about visuals and movements and so on, but there are a lot of background things you need to know in order to teach it as well. This study guide helped make studying dance on paper easier. It went through everything I needed for the test including dance history, creation, special skills and so on and so forth. It also had a practice test that I was able to use to see how much I knew and how well I might do on the real test. It even has some special reports that help you figure out ways you can improve your score. I used every aspect of the study guide and it really worked for me. Studying dance on paper isn’t idea, but it’s what you have to do to get where you want to be in order to teach it. This study guide helped me every step of the way.

I would give the flash cards in the books both a 5 considering they are the exact same thing. I really thought it a waste of my money to have purchased both when all the information was written directly on the back of the flashcards that was in the book. I have however found both products very useful since I can write notes in the book and ask myself questions from the note cards. I think this is one of the better study guides that I've ever had.
