From Flyaway

I can see a lake, surrounded by trees. My eyes scan the surface of the water, searching...

"Think there are any birds down there?" Harry says.

I cringe, wait for the teasing. But Harry keeps quiet, genuinely interested.

"Maybe," I say quietly. "It's a bit early for them yet."

I turn back to study the lake, and I see something. Just one. I can't work out whether it's a whooper or a mute. Its feathers look grayish and young. My breath catches in my throat as I think about that lone gray whooper flying away from the power cables that day...all on her own. Maybe it's her.

"What is it?" Harry asks.

"Just a swan."

Sweet

This is a sweet and heart-wrenching book. Isla, the narrator has a compelling voice, and is very likeable- she is selfless, and her relationship with her family is very strong. Harry, the sick boyfriend, though really shines.
Their blooming relationship is innocent, and it is fun to watch it unfold. The loner swan brings them together and parallels their adventure.

Spoiler below!!!
The only thing I don't like is that it did not give me closure on whether Harry makes it through his transplant. But then again, sometimes the open ended ending really is the best, because you are always rooting for the patient to pull through and for the romance to continue, but as Lurlene McDaniel has proved, there is just something about death that can also make a perfect ending, because it is sad, beautiful, and reflects reality. But, I don't know about real statistics, but the book said 50/50 chance, so in the end it is left to the reader to decide, or you can take her dream of Harry being a swan and migrating as he didn't pull through, or you can find hope in his text and say that he did.

Exciting - I couldn't put it down!

I really like this book. It was so exciting and I couldn't put it down. The only reason I don't give it five stars is because I think Isla is too young to have a boyfriend. Sure, she can like boys, but not have them as boyfriends. It just sort of made me uncomfortable. But other than that, this was a very good book. I completely recommend it!

good for the beginners

This is reasonably good practical guide for beginners. The information provided is very limited. For example, differences between different types of Juvederm is not discussed. Video clips of the procedures available on the internet are very limited and don't give any specific information of how much of the product was used. Only some of the procedures are available on the internet. Descriptions of some of the anesthesia procedures are included in the book, but not demonstrated on the video clips. I would recommend this book for someone who wants to start doing dermal filler procedures and needs to know the basics.

A Must Have Book for Injectors!

Dr. Small has written another great book in her Practical Guide Series. Dr. Small's experience with teaching shines through. The book is clearly written and well organized and describes clearly the anatomy of the face, anesthesia for the procedures, the how-to of injection, complications and contraindications. There are good photographs and illustrations and the book comes with an on-line video showing actual injections. I consider this book a must-have and highly recommend it for any injector of fillers.

I strongly recommend this book. It gives very detail information, covers everything you need to know about Dermal Fillers, and has wonderfull online VIDEO to show you exactly how to do it as well. I love it and the price is reasonable. I spent almost $200 for The Complete Guide to Dermal Filler Injections DVD written by Dr. Dolores Kent, it was suck. Please, do not waste your money for that DVD. Believe me. I have nothing to do with Dr. Small and her business. But her book is a real deal. Good luck.

anyone with any interest in yoga or meditation, must buy this book.

I'm almost laughing just thinking about its price of five dollars..

I put it in my Amazon cart because Swami wrote my first yoga book [Integral Hatha Yoga] and I knew him to be a genuine authority on Hatha Yoga, and, as I was also buying Swami's translation of 'Yoga Sutras of Patanjali' [also, a treasure of its type] and having an interest in meditation generally.. five dollars..

cant be much . . . how pleasantly surprised was I !

this is a genuine how-to guide which anyone could use with success . .

its small size and give-away price together with its structure make it obvious that this little treasure has been produced as a gift to us ..

it has EVERYTHING from how to sit on the pillow to what to do with your eyeballs to what mantras to use and how they actually work, to [pauses]
but, short description here could not do this little book justice..

This little book is perfect for the new, or even more experienced, meditator. It guides through different methods of meditation in a clear, concise manner, and is small enough to take with you wherever you go, as a reminder to take a few moments to "go inside". This book will be helpful to nearly everyone, and I highly recommend it.

"This book addresses the topic of the general nonlinear integer programming (NLIP). The overall goal of the book is to bring the state of the art of the theoretical foundations and solution methods of NLIP to readers who are interested in optimization, operations research and computer science. This book investigates the theory and solution methodologies for the general NLIP and provides the developments of the last 30 years. It is assumed that readers are familiar with linear integer programming and the book thus focuses on the theory and solution methodologies of NLIP. The following are some of the features of the book: \roster \item"$\bullet$" Duality theory for NLIP: Investigation into the relationship of the duality gap and the perturbation function has lead to the development of nonlinear Lagrangian theory, thus establishing a methodology for the solution of the NLIP. \item"$\bullet$" Convergent Lagrangian and cutting plane methods for NLIP: Concepts like the objective level cuts, objective contour cuts or the domain cut reshapes the perturbation function. This leads to the optimal solution to lie in the convex hull of the perturbation functions and thus guarantees a zero duality gap. \item"$\bullet$" Convexification scheme: Using the connection between monotonicity and convexity, convexification schemes are developed for monotone and non-convex integer programs, thus extending the reach of branch and bound methods. \item"$\bullet$" Solution framework using global descent: The optimal solution of an NLIP is sought from among the local minima. The book presents the impact that limited access to the rights guaranteed by EU law have had on the actual conditions of life for Romanian children in migration across Europe. Although the book shows that the rights enshrined in article 24 of the EU Charter are not yet fully and equally ensured in some EU countries, it also describes the ways in which local communities and civil society actors have often operated to fill the gap and enabled such children to exercise their rights despite legislative and political shortcomings.
